About Course

B.Sc (Computer Science) :The Department of Computer Science was established as a distinct academic discipline in 1998 and accepted the first intake of students who had passed the Higher Secondary Examination (Academic Stream) conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu and Central Board, with Mathematics as one of the subjects. Since 2008, the department has been functioning with two sections of students to support the rise of emerging technology. The department is very proud to say that it has successfully graduated 24 batches of Computer Science students. The department now has responsibility within the university for all academic aspects of computing — including teaching, basic research (mini projects), and collaboration with other departments and industry on applied research. Its research attempts both to solve problems using computers and to address challenges in the design and programming of computing systems themselves. In both areas, it combines rigorous theory with industrial application, each acting as a strong stimulus for the other — a synergy that is reflected in its teaching.

The Department of Visual Communication at Mahalashmi Women's College of Arts & Science, established in the year 2019, caters to sculpting students as media professionals, creators, and effective communicators. This programme enables students to acquire artistic and technical skills in photography, videography, sound design, audio-video editing, filmmaking, print design and production, graphics, animation, web designing, and advertising, thereby making them industry-ready. Furthermore, the programme intends to mould visual media professionals with human values and social consciousness. This programme also provides students with myriad practical components to integrate innovations in media technologies for effective communication.
